Cobey attended South Plains College where he earned his Commercial Art degree. Afterwards he worked at the Levelland and Hockley County News-Press building ads for publication. Aside from doing print design, he has branched out into web design - a field in which he is mostly self-taught.

Presently he is a part time instructor at Texas Tech as well, teaching Adobe InDesign, Photoshop and Illustrator classes at the School of Art.
